Ahoy there! Did this post surprise you? It surprised us, too, in a way because we realized that this week, we only have a month to go before Filipino ReaderCon 2014. WAIT, WHAT?
And because we’re surprised, we also want to surprise you. ;) Say hello to this year’s Filipino Fridays!
If you’re new to this thing, Filipino Fridays is a weekly meme that started with the Filipino Book Bloggers, and has evolved into a yearly pre-Filipino ReaderCon tradition. Every Friday, a topic will be posted and all Filipino readers are encouraged to make their own post about it. Anyone can join as long as your post can be viewed by everyone else – you can post it on Tumblr, Blogspot, WordPress or any other social networking site, just make sure to set it to public. Leave a comment with your post, and we will have a round-up post every week so you can browse the posts and leave comments for the other participants. In case you don’t have a blog and you still want to participate, you can answer via Twitter, Facebook, or just leave a comment on the Filipino Friday post for that week.
You can post weekly, or catch up — whenever it’s convenient for you. Filipino Friday is a chance to have fun and interact with other Filipino Book Bloggers who you will most probably meet in person if you’re joining the ReaderCon with us. :)

Surprise, Reader! Hello, it’s the first week of Filipino Fridays 2014! Whether it’s your first time to participate or not, tell us a bit about yourself. More specifically, tell us about your favorite book discoveries for this year. Any author you started reading this year that you can’t get enough of? A book you didn’t think you’d like, but you ended up liking/loving? Any book series that you just have to get your hands on? Have you discovered anything new from Filipino authors this year?
